And my mother had a lot of problems that she has not allowed that i could go to hamburg (I´m born in Berlin) for i was too young. John gave me so much until today. Before we woman got in the brain, he wrote woman is the nigger in the world. He made more for us as we do it. He was the best we could get. I´m proud to share my birthday with him i´m only ten years younger. Thank you John, thank you Yoko!

There will never be another group or period of time like that. I'm a 43 year old man who found The Beatles when I was 13 and my life changed forever. I was strung out on drugs in 1980 when we lost him and it was as bad as loosing my Dad. He left so much though. I relish in his art constantly. Thank you for this magazine.

I also love some of the Lennon quotes and lyrics, like for example: "Everybody´s talking but no one says a wortd", "There´s always something happening but nothing´s going on", "When I say that I´m O.K. they look at me kind of strange..."

When I first heard "Imagine" sung by John, he had expressed everything I was feeling at the time, but a gentle world was not to be. Its so important to keep their ideals alive, to hope for peace and understanding for humankind. We hope that John knows that there are people who still care. I would like to see a peace celebration this December 8 in NYC.

comment: Hi, First of all, Happy Birthday, Yoko! Have a wonderful birthday!

I was readingn IK Yoko Q & A site the other day, and I was so impressed she picked up my questions and answered them! I felt so warm and close to Yoko learning that she answered them. I am a painter, and I like drawing pictures of peoples' portraits, as well. The other day, I drew Yoko and I am planning to draw John and Yoko, and pretty soon, Sean and Yuka, too. By the way, I went to see the play, " The Yoko Ono Project ". It was inateresting. It was based on Yoko's words, historical events, works, her artistic styles, but not about/of Yoko as a person, it was a comical play, and it was different. You can check ONOWeb site for the current news for more details with pictures. Bye for now. Happy birthday, Yoko again!

Cheers, Love and Peace to everyone on this earth!

comment: I want to be the first to post a very special HAPPY BIRTHDAY message to Yoko. It was an overwhelming thrill to meet Ms. Ono after her amazing performance at the Roxy in Los Angeles a few years back. I have to say that Ms. Ono happens to be one of the most ingratiating, accessible and down-to-earth super-stars I have ever met. (And Sean is pretty damn cool, too.) If it means anything at all- I really want to say that I have been inspired, moved and have felt deeply connected to much of Yoko Ono's work- in all mediums, but especially her music. I CAN NOT wait until there is more of it! (Please hurry, Yoko :) This Feburary 18th is a special day- the HAPPIEST of birthdays, Yoko. Keep smiling...

comment: John Lennon was not murdered because of his pacifist beliefs. He was, however, harrassed and spied on by the FBI and other such organizations. He was murdered because someone was having a deeply psychotic problem and focused himself on a beloved celebrity, one who was not paranoid and did not wall himself up behind a fortress. It is fair, I suppose, to say that John was murdered because of his openness.

comment: Dear Ms. Ono, After all these years, I still find Dec. 8th very hard to deal with. I know that I am not the only person, who is not related nor has ever met John or yourself, that feels this way.

I am 44 years old and I have listened to the music of John and/or the Beatles just about everyday of my life since I was 8. I've enjoyed every moment of it, including all the input, color and expression you added. I love your imagination.

I originally wrote to www.yoko.com to ask you if you would be interested in my idea for a memorial sculpture for John to be placed in Central Park's Strawberry Fields but when I read the terrible things people said there, I really could not picture you going there to read it. People can be so cruel. I really don't understand it.

John and the Beatles played a large part in my youth. A part I miss very much. I would like to have this opertunity to express the feelings I have, in sculpture. I am not looking for money or fame. I would just like to have a place, for anyone who feels the way I do and realizes the impact of the tragity, to go.

Wishing you all the best,
Joe Mason

comment: John Lennon rules. He believed in peace and he tried to preach it to the world. He was murdered because of his pacifist beliefs. Why is there so much hatred towards those who talk about peace. I really miss him. He had so much to share with the world. I think MDC should rot in prison.

comment: Comment on the article about Mark David Chapman.

I understand everyone being upset about Chapman, and certainly about Lennon's murder. We all miss him. But how you can you juxtapose the sentences "John was all about peace and love" with "Mark David Chapman should never be allowed to walk this earth again." He has been in prison for twenty years and if he's not a danger to anyone else, I can't imagine that John would support taking away someone's freedom out of vengeance.

Frankly, the most radical thing anyone could do would be to help Chapman re-establish his life so that life on the outside is not so troublesome to him that he snaps again. Does this suggestion disturb you? It probably does--it's not meant to be an easy fix, and I am not saying that you are required to forgive him for what he's done or embrace him. But I don't see what is served by continuing to keep him locked up. It doesn't bring John back, and frankly, it is contrary to the kinds of ideals that John talked about. "Better recognize your brother--EVERYONE you meet. Why in the world are we here? Surely not to live in pain and fear."

Let your pain go and let everyone move on and LOVE John and one another.

My dad had always brought home the new Beatle albums as soon as they out, and my sister and I desparately wanted to go to the show. We were 4 and 6 years old and too young by my dads point of view. My mom wanted to go, but the old man got the last word. So we didn't get to go.

I am now 40 years old and I have the best John Lennon tatto portrait in the middle of my back you could imagine. Also , across my sternum it reads "Above us only sky" across a beautiful red sunset. When I was a kid and we played "Beatles", I was always Ringo. I love them all, but John really represented something special attitudinally speaking. I know he would definitely not approve of my tattoo (which is the shot of him in the Sgt. Pepper inside sleeve) as he did not want us to worship him. He wanted to be just like us and one of the cracks in the pavement rose up and took him away. I got this tattoo so he could watch my back, I wish I could've been there to watch his. I can't believe he's been gone for 20 years. Not a day goes by where I don't think of him and all he means to me and now also to my 7 year old son. I hope to see him at the gates. Go get em' Julian!
