The music world still misses John Lennon. Yoko gave John's music the edge it had in the 60's & 70's, whether her critics like it or not. Good luck to Julian and Sean with the same critics who jumped on the bandwagon only after John died, whether they like hearing it or not. Happy Xmas.

I just wanted to say that John Lennon still lives in our hearts, and he will never be forgotten.

Connie Taylor

Sunday, December 21, 1997

17 years ago. I wasn't even alive yet, but his death made a remarkable impact on my life. John Lennon is my hero. Although he is in Heaven now, he lives on in the hearts of those who love him. No one in the history of the world has had such a positive impact on the people. With songs like, "All You Need Is Love" and "Imagine" (and many, many others!), it is quite obvious what John meant to the world, and what the world meant to John. Without his God given gift of being a world class song writer, the world would be emersed in the greater ignorance of war and destruction. John's "Give Peace a Chance" changed everything. It showed us that peace was far more easy to achieve than we had thought. The Beatles music and their coming to America is listed in Life Magazine's top 100 things that shaped America. It is quite clear why. Anyone who has ever listened to John's music can feel he had something special... It is deeply depressing that Mark David Chapman deprived the world of the possiblity of more of Johnny's wonderfully harmonic music. It would be a dream come true for me if I could meet John, if only in a dream. Maybe his spirit will come to me. He was so remarkable, I don't see why he couldn't. I dedicate everything I do in music, and every song that I write to John. Him and his music are my inspiration. I turn to Julian and Sean now, to keep the Lennon songs comming. They have John's blood running through thier veins, and only THEY can be as creative as their father. Though many have tried, no one could ever match the quality and sincerety of John's music.

This poem comes from the top of my head, but I dedicate it to you, John:

December 8th, why did it have to happen?
We blame the tragedy on Mark David Chapman.
He is the reason that you are gone,
your body may be dead, but your legend lives on.

From Penny Lane to New York City,
You never lost your touch, and always were witty.
The songs that you wrote touched so many lives,
But they will never drowned out the sound of our cries.

Every year on that tragic day,
I walk in silence, my respect I will pay.
To the one who loved Julian, Yoko and Sean,
Your body may be dead, but your legend lives on.

**********************

We love you John! "Wherever you are; You are here" *Imagine* that..

I read the note posted about Paul's interview with David Frost, in which Paul expresses some metaphysical disappointment at not having received a message from John. Although obviously heartfelt and poignant, Paul seems to have missed the point: John's "message" continues to ring out loudly, strongly, vibrantly; not only in his music, but in the way he lived his life. Maybe the answer to Paul's disappointment also lies in the Bible's (one of the letters of one of the Apostles?) reminder, to those of us with corporal existence, that those in Heaven have no regard for our existence here on earth (with the exception of God, of course). Anyway, I also wanted to say that I miss him too. I am not-so-strangely depressed every year around the anniversary of his death . . . maybe that also explains Paul's angst.

Why in the world are we here? Surely not to live in pain and fear. Why on earth are you there, when you're everywhere. These verses from "Instant Karma" simply reads a clear message to John Lennon. You may have died physicaly, but mentally you're in our lives forever. I was only 13 when you were murdered, but believe me I was vey mature with your music in my heart. It was a great loss to everyone in this world.... Long lives John...

i just finished reading that article about Sean Lennon's performance and it was all true. I saw Sean perform in San Francisco about six months ago and he was absolutly great. after the show i got backstage and got to meet him and he was the nicest gut, totally cool. i even went out to a bar with them afterwards and hung out for awhile. my only regret is i ended up getting totally drunk and making an ass of myself. so sean if you read this the drunk girl from San Francisco says Hi! ha ha

It was so hard to believe on that Monday night 17 years ago, I was only fifteen years old and in high school, living in East Los Angeles, Ca. in 1980 and had saved enough money to go buy John and Yoko's new album Double Fantasy at Music Plus on that day. I made sure I had every Beatle album that I could save my school lunch and birthday money for, and it still hurts me to pull out those 90 or 100 albums. I could never explain the way I felt that very sad, sad night. I would like to thank my little brother Rene for being there for me. He was only 14 years old back then, but he couldn't avoid loving the Beatles, John, Paul, George, Ringo and their wonderful music cause I played it all day and sometimes all night while I was sleeping. Crazy HUH? I know everyone has their own story of when they heard the news on that Monday night. I will never forget how cold and empty I felt and where I was that night and could only imagine the way his family felt. I prayed for them that night and I also felt like part of his family...now I would like to thank John and Yoko and the rest of the Beatles for their Great Music..

John Lennon was and still is a great inspiration to us all. He showed the world that it truly is what's on the inside that counts. His music touched the hearts of all Americans, and showed us a new way of viewing the world. His death was untimely and very tragic. My best wishes to all friends and family of this great man.

The end of my day propelled me towards home. After boarding a quick shuttle ride home, and of course seating myself, I came across a group of mourners huddled sullenly around a star imbedded on the corner of Selma and Vine. The likes of which passively, dogmaticly, or even HONESTLY refused to believe in anything other than themselves. People who would like the same world as the late Lennon wished upon himself and others. People of all different colors and backgrounds. The joy filling my soul tonight, is the thought that bagism is not a fleeting thought, but a constant and sincere future reality. Let's all keep doing our thing and thank you.

December 8th/December 9th, 1980:
I have been a fan of John Lennon and the Beatles since I was 6 years old. I knew of them from "Yellow Submarine" and the music from that film was all The Beatles music I knew until I became a teenager in 1980.

Just a few days before December 8, 1980, I had borrowed The Beatles "Help!" album from a fellow Beatles fan at my Canadian high school. From that record, I learned that the Fab Four had many more (excellent) songs that spoke of more things than just "the sky of blue and a sea of green." I was thrilled.

On the morning of December 9th, the headline of The Montreal Gazette read "John Lennon Shot Dead." For my fellow Beatles fan and myself, the day was miserable. She was dressed in solid black. She had been a fan since she was just a little kid, too. The only difference was that she had all of the Beatles albums, while I didn't. After school that day, I listened to the radio. Back-to-back and hour-upon-hour of Beatles and John Lennon music was being played without repetition. Being only familiar with the music from "Yellow Submarine" and "Help!", I was completely stunned. Rather than spending money on new wave music in the 80's, I collected or taped any Beatles music I came across and became an avid fan just as my high school classmate who wore a "Beatles 4-Ever" jean jacket.

It's now 17 years later and I am writing this message on the eve of December 9th, 1997 -- the day I listened to, all in one day, the greatest pop music ever made. And the day I learned that the writer of that music..had died.

This is by far the coolest website I've seen on John and Yoko! Although I was only 3 when John died, his music has had such an impact on me and has helped me through some rough times as well. Alot of times I wish I could have prevented his death, but I suppose it was meant to be. I may only be 14, but I am totally in love with the Beatles. I just wish I could have been around to see them perform. I believe that John Lennon will live forever. We miss you forever,
today even more,
your body is gone,
your heart will soar.

We love you now,
just wish you could know,
through a tragedy,
minds told so.

We wish you were here,
though now you are gone,
seventeen years ago,
now seems so long.

Crying so hard,
torn inside,
where are you,
why must you hide?

Come out John,
please come here,
gone now forever,
I'll sit in fear.

John is gone,
but his legend lives on,
the Beatles died,
that morning's dawn.

In the Dakota's shadows,
he waited with pride,
to shoot and kill,
the evening tide.

Five deep wounds,
sent John to the ground,
next to him,
shattered glasses found.

He lives in our hearts,
seventeen years with fate,
Mark David Chapman,
we'll always hate.

On this day was killed our dear John

WOW 17 YEARS, I can't believe it's been that long! But at least he had time to finally be happy. Yoko and Sean gave him that when no one else could! We can look at the situation from different ways. We can look back and think about that JERK who took his life from his wife, children, friends, family and fans (which he did). We can think about how he took him when he had so much more he wanted to do! Or we can look at it and think what a GREAT human being he was and remember all he HAD accomplished and all the people who love him and miss him and will NEVER let his music, art and his activities for peace die or go unnoticed!! I choose to think of it both ways! John, we love you and miss you dearly.

I have been to a lot of websites dedicated to the life and music of John Lennon, but I'd have to say that this one is the most interesting so far. There is so much information! And it's not just about him, either. You can find things about the people who were really close to him. John was my favorite Beatle because of his wit and charm. He had a wonderful way with words. It's nice seeing that other people feel the same way.

Thanks,
Cassie

Talk about doing your homework! I've never seen so much data in one place before. I just added a bookmark for my son to come back later. He has to see this.

Take care,
