OUR GUESTS SAY...(February and March 1997)

I love John sooo much. He's a legend. I have so many Beatle things, and I have his books "A Spaniard in the Works" and "In His Own Write." I have books on him and the other Beatles and I idolize him. If you want to chat, send me somethin'!

I am interested in the music that John Lennon has produced, both as a Beatle and in his solo years. It is clear that John Lennon has left his mark on our society. He proved to all of us that peace is as close as our minds can think it to be. I know very little about the actual man, as I was only five years old when he died, however, I am always seeking information about who he is and what he did to leave such a mark on today's world. I, like most people, think of one word when describing John Lennon, and that word is peace.

"Peace"

I just have to say that this is a very great web site and I am also happy that there really isn't any Beatles bashing on it (on some others I have visited, there has been). My best regards for the Ono-Lennon family. But, I hear so much about how John and Yoko's artwork is in London, or Florida, or California and I was wondering, is there any chance that their artwork will visit Toronto?

John and his music means a lot to me. I was born the day he was shot. My dream is to visit New York on December 8 and go to the Dakota at 10:50, the time when John was shot. He was a genius. Anyone who agrees, feel free to e-mail me. We all need to help keep his memory alive.

John Lennon ROCKS! I hope that he rests in peace. Peace, strange to say that considering that he got shot. It isn't right. A man that promoted peace so much has to get gunned down by some guy for absolutely no reason at all. He said it was because of what Lennon was misquoted in saying about the Beatles are more popular than Jesus, but he said that many years earlier, and even then, that doesn't give you the right to just rip out a gun and shoot.

I met Yoko Ono in October up in New York, right outside of the Dakota. A couple of my friends, two of their parents and I went up to go to Strawberry Fields and see the Imagine shrine. As we were walking over, there she was. She gladly gave us a picture, which I have on a sweatshirt now. She was very nice to us, but as a crowd began to form, she went back to the Dakota. I guess you can't blame her considering that is how her husband died.

Getting to a new topic, I never heard Sean or Julian's music before, so I don't know if it is good or bad. I guess I will have to buy one of their cd's just to check it out. Well, that is about all that I have to say.

Hey Yoko! I'm so happy your albums will be all re-released! I love you. I'm waiting anxiously too for a new Yoko / Ima album. And...sorry for the intromission, but, what about recording any jungle / techno track? Love and Peace for Yoko, Sean, John + Julian

Hi, we are very ardent fans of the Lennons and have met Sean on several occasions. He is really sweet and receptive, not to mention talented! Yoko has been a big inspiration on our own band and we commend her for being able to be herself despite all of the criticism that she receives. We also saw "Hiroshima" and talked to Ron Destro, who's incredibly talented. We especially enjoy the various genres of music that Yoko and Sean have experimented with. It's great to see a mother and son such as themselves working and making music together.

John is dead. "Let HIM be!" There'll be bigger and better out there. Just you wait and see. I have this feeling deep down inside of me that it will be a lot sooner than most think. Just some insight from someone on the inside.

I really enjoy your online mag. I have been a big John fan for about 25 years. I always admired his ability to attract attention to important causes. His music was so personal that it felt like sometimes he was writing for you. I guess that is what makes artists great. Thanks for the info on Sean, Yoko and Julian. It's fun to see what they have been up to.

When I met John, he looked like the best guy in the world. He's very good-looking and friendly. I love him. He used to say "there's no problems, only solutions" and when I remember those words, my troubles disappear. Well, maybe in last Beatles' years, sometimes they hate each other, but John (and this told me), in fact, he love them very much 'cos they were really friends. I'm going to say one thing, Yoko, "don't be sad, 'cos although John had died, he always will stay in your heart and Sean's heart." Don't forget, "GIVE PEACE A CHANCE" "AIN'T NOTHING IN THE WORLD LIKE OUR LOVE" John was really fell in love of you.

For our working class hero: we will always love your music and your ideology. For Yoko, well, it's hard to say. I just hope that you really read this. There will be no greater love than yours. For Sean, don't forget him, never.. and for Julian, I know that many people don't forgive you because you are who you are; never mind, your music is great and you are such a fortunate man. With love for the greatest family.

In the case that Yoko should read this, I just want you to know that you and John have had an enormous impact on my life. The two of you made me realize who I really am, and I will be eternally grateful to you for that. I'm only 14 and was not even born when John was shot, but I discovered him and the Beatles about 3 years ago and shortly following, I discovered Yoko. It was all completely by accident that I even began listening to the Beatles, and it was yet another accident when I turned on the TV and saw John and Yoko on Dick Cavett on VH1 Archives and began to realize what great people they were. But it was the greatest accident I ever had.

Regarding your suggestion, we are in the process of creating the site, so we're going first with the most readily accessible material in our back files. Naturally, because Yoko has been so active since we began IK in 1981, we have loads of material about her and about Sean. We will, of course, be adding a lot more about John as we roll along.)

John and Yoko have been my role models and my inspirations for years. I'm only 14 and was not even born when John died, but I discovered he and Yoko about 3 years ago and ever since,my life has been different. I can't explain it, but somehow they managed to change my perspective on so many different things. The world was greatly deprived on December 8, 1980, but although John may be gone physically, his presence will always be here with us. And thank God we were graced with him to begin with. And I'd just like to say that I love Yoko, Sean and Julian. Hope you're all doing well. And Julian, you did a great job with "Cole's Song" that you did for "Mr. Holland's Opus" soundtrack. You sound amazing! Please tell me where I can find more of your music and Sean's!

In December, 1995, I was fortunate enough to visit New York City. Coming from Australia, this is a big thing. I have been a Beatle fan since I was 10, therefore, when I was 17 and able to do my Beatle pilgrimage to places around the world such as Liverpool, St. John (Abbey Road), and the Dakota Building in New York, I was stoked.

On my second day by myself in New York, I decided to take a walk from my hotel (The Hotel Pennsylvania) to Central Park to find the 59th Bridge Street and the Dakota. At around 11AM I reached the Dakota where I stood outside and thought, this is where one of my four heroes lived. Suddenly the front door opened and out walked a man and a short Asian woman. I looked at them and thought the small Asian woman was YOKO. However, I decided that was impossible. The couple started walking down the street - the doorman told me, "Mate that was her". I looked at him and mouthed, "YOKO ONO" to which he nodded.

I was going to run after her but decided not to. This may seem strange so I will explain. Walking down the street was a person I have a great amount of love and respect for, and I respect her enough to realize that she had a right to walk down the street and not get harassed by crazed fans such as myself. However, the doorman told me, "Go talk to her, she won't mind."

So, after a moment's indecision, I piss-bolted after her and then I talked and got a photo with one of the nicest people I have ever met. Without thinking I said, "Thankyou, you have made a difference." And I meant it because I know there is at least one teenager in the world today who believes "All You Need is Love."

I'm a Japanese student at the Institute of Popular Music at Liverpool University. My one-year project is to look at Yoko's asthetic to her music: feminism, racism (Western and Eastern), war and peace (pre-war, post-war) men and women (feminism, sexuality), and so on. For my research, I need to get in contact with other Yoko fans. I've already got some journals on Yoko's activity and music (Rolling Stone, Billboard, etc.). However, I haven't been able to find these important two American journals: Village Voice and Variety. If you have any information, please e-mail me at the address above.

John was the greatest thinker of the 20th Century. It will be sad to proceed into the 21st Century without him. I don't care about any stinking politician, inventor or any other important person. Who else ever said "All You Need Is Love" and "Give Peace a Chance" and in the process changed the world a few times?

The saddest thing is, John died supporting this philosophy and I still feel the U.S. government had him killed because he was the only person with enough balls to stand up to everything that is wrong with the world. Truth must hurt, huh? I miss John tremendously.

John's family should "come together", forget their differences and keep his legacy alive. It's not too late to "Give Peace A Chance" again.
