Yoko Visits Detroit To Open Wish Tree Event

Yoko shared a special moment with Detroit residents Friday, when she appeared before a crowd of about 300 people at Detroit's Times Square-Robert Hurst Park to dedicate "Yoko Ono Wish Tree for Detroit." The ginko tree and accompanying stone sculpture with a plaque inviting visitors to "whisper your wish to the bark of the tree" is part of a continuing series of living art installations Yoko has presented around the world.

Detroit arts patron Gilbert Silverman paid for the event. Yoko told the gathered crowd that she hoped the new art work would bring "happiness, peace and joy" to all who stop by to see it.
