From Yahoo Daily News:

LIVERPOOL, England (AP) - Elton John made a long-awaited return to Liverpool Thursday with his first show there in 18 years, and dedicated his performance to one of the city's most famous sons, John Lennon. Sir Elton played a three hour set of ballads and rock and roll anthems such as "Daniel" and "Candle In The Wind" to a crowd of 3,500. Opening the song "Empty Garden," written for Lennon, he said: "I have played this song in New York and Hamburg but the most fitting place and the only place to play it is here in Liverpool."

The 53-year-old star sat at his Yamaha piano wearing a single breasted red satin lounge suit embroidered with pink flowers and the word Medusa emblazoned in diamante stones across his back. Introducing the number "Ticking," about the gun culture in the United States, he told the crowd: "This song was written back in the 1970s...it is a sad indictment on America that nothing has changed since then."

Elton, as most of you know, is Sean Lennon's godfather.
