"Lennon Remembers" Returns - With Added Text

(Entered August 31, 2000)

Lennon Remembers

The Original "Lennon Remembers" was published in 1971
by Straight Arrow Books; 189 Pages; $4.95 (!).

On the inside jacket, Andrew Kopkind was quoted:
"Lennon's way, it seems to me, is a revival of honesty, a commitment to authenticity of feeling...The value of his personal depositions in the Rolling Stone Interviews is...in the presentation of a real personal and public struggle to be free."

Billboard reported that on October 9, Rolling Stone will publish "Lennon Remembers: The Complete Rolling Stone Interviews" which will consist of never-before-published comments John gave to the magazine in 1970. The never-before-seen text which is being included in this book was reportedly omitted from interviews published in RS because they were thought to be too "controversial" at the time. The unreleased statements that were given as examples were drug-related.

The book will be released in the U.K., the U.S.A. and Canada by London-based publisher Verso. It features a forward by Yoko and an introduction by Rolling Stone publisher, Jann Wenner. "Lennon Remembers" will also include reproductions of handwritten songs that have never been published before.
