CANDLELIGHT VIGIL FOR JOHN LENNON,
DECEMBER 8, 1999 IN LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA

IK!'S West Coast correspondent, Harry Bluebond, has sent us the news release of Alliance for Survival's annual Candlelight Vigil for John Lennon. Harry usually attends the vigil, during which fans gather to talk about John,
sing songs and pay their respects.

The news release reads as follows:

"Hollywood, CA - A John Lennon Candlelight Vigil and a Musical Candlelight March from Lennon's Hollywood Walk of Fame Star to the Beatles' Walk of Fame Star will take place Wednesday, December 8, 1999 beginning at 5:00 PM to commemorate the anniversary of John Lennon's tragic death. John's star is located at 1750 North Vine Street (just north of Hollywood Boulevard in front of the Capitol Records Tower Building).

The vigil and march are free to the public. Lennon and Beatles fans are invited to bring musical instruments, candles and flowers. A free shuttle van will be available for anyone unable to participate in the one-mile march to the Beatles Star (currently located at Hollywood Boulevard and La Brea Avenue). The march will begin promptly at 5:30 PM.

The commemorative event is being sponsored by the Alliance for Survival peace group.

For further information, call the Los Angeles Alliance for Survival at (310) 399-1000."

NEW YORK CITY VIGIL...
Fans usually gather around the Imagine mosaic in Central Park across from John, Yoko and Sean's home on West 72nd Street in New York City. In past years, fans have brought candles, flowers and guitars to the Imagine circle. This year, the BBC plans to be on-hand for a portion of the day to interview fans.
