Weekend, in
partnership with the John Lennon
Songwriting Contest, is currently running a contest specifically for
teens.
Entrants
must be at least 13 years of age and a student in grade 7 to 12.
Two prize-winning song lyrics will be chosen: One in the category
"General" and one in the category "Patriotic."
Winners will also receive:
*A trip to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, where your
award will be presented.
*Your lyrics put to music by Grammy Award-winning recording artist
Wyclef Jean.
* A $1,000 U.S. Savings Bond, courtesy of the Maxell Corp. (plus a
supply of CD-R discs).
* A new, state-of-the-art Iomega CD burner, valued at $300.
* Your lyrics published in USA WEEKEND Magazine, where they'll be seen
by 48 million readers.
Plus, your school will receive:
* Two Yamaha acoustic guitars, two portable keyboards and a synthesizer,
with a total value in excess of $2,000. For more about the prize

All entries must be:
*No longer than 100 words,
including the song's title.
*An original work.
*In English, using language appropriate
for national publication.
*Submitted no later than Feb. 15, 2002.
