John Ono Lennon

Over the years, fans expressed themselves
in many ways. Some shared their sense of loss
and deepest emotions in the beautiful language of poetry.
Here are just a few of the contributions made to IK!

FEELING THE SPACE

High on your trapeze we'd swing,
Gathering speed until confidence grew,
Then, at your word, releasing
Hold. And, just for a moment,
We flew.

Gone are the costumes of glittering fire,
No music, no sideshows. The only sound
Is sighing wind over twisted wire
Where a brown bird pecks
The ground.

By Dorothy Hatchett (11/5/83)

IN THE HOLLOWS

memory serves
of a time more sweet
music trailing,
voices raising
to a shrillest high..
hearts pounding faster
hearts fond and fair...
a younger time,
a happier time now gone
but lingers in the hollows
of heart and soul.

DEARLY DEPARTED-DECEMBER '80

My lover comes to me,
Walking through dimensions
Only he can see.

A warming touch he has for me,
Even though others say
It cannot be.

I wait 'til I see his smile,
And the love in his eyes,
They are mine for awhile.

All night long we are together,
Playing and loving,
Our love, Forever.

LENNON - FIVE YEARS ON

The fifth anniversary approaches.
More pointless reminiscence to bear.
Perhaps someone, somewhere benefits.
The rest don't really care.

They'll never feel our inner sadness.
Nor understand the silent tear
For the Pied Piper who got too far ahead,
And left his children here.

We can only think of what might have been,
Left in the wake of his merry dance.
The good grow old gracefully, John
The great don't get the chance.
