I went to the Sean Lennon-Cibo Matto concert at Bowery Ballroom in NYC on June 9. Luckily, before the concert, I was able to meet Sean Lennon again and he was sweet as always. I asked him if his new album is coming out or not and he said no. Sean said he has no time for recording since he is playing with Cibo Matto these days.

He told me that he always reads my letters. He actually reads letters from fans. Keep writing, guys! I took a picture with him and talked with him a little bit more before he joined an interview with Timo Ellis.

After the band called Arsonists played, Sean Lennon took the stage for his own show. His band members were Sean himself, Yuka Honda, Timo Ellis and Duma Love. Sean started the show with "Sean's Theme." He introduced himself as "Stella McCartney" and joked and smiled a lot. He played keyboard for "Sean's Theme" which was nice for me since I had never seen him playing keyboard before. "Mystery Juice" was next in the set. "Mystery Juice" is a very awesome song and its live version is even better than the original. The third song Sean performed was "Heart and Lung" from the "Half Horse-Half Musician" EP. As I recall, he played that song at his Baltimore and Washington DC concerts last summer.

After Sean finished "Heart and Lung," he said"I'm going to play a new song. No one has heard this song before, but all of you are going to." This very beautiful song was called " Paper Plane."

For the next song, he invited a special guest, Rufus Wainwright (who did openings for Sean's tour last summer) and they sang "Happiness" together. The next song was "Spaceship" from Sean's debut album, "Into The Sun." After "Spaceship," Sean announced, "Now, We are going to rock!". and he started to rap. For someone who has never seen or heard Sean doing a rap song, I'm telling you -- he is an incredibly good rapper! The last song they performed was "Dream" which is a heavy rock number from "Half Horse-Half Musician." As he said, they Rocked.

For the Cibo Matto concert, Sean Lennon appeared playing bass and did backing vocals as well. This was my second Cibo Matto concert and it turned out to be much better than the first one I attended. Everyone in the band was great. Especially, the lead singer Miho Hatori and Sean rocked the Ballroom. The most interesting happening was when Miho forgot the lyrics (I think it was when they were playing "Know Your Chicken") She looked flustered for a second, but then after a frustrated exclamation - "Shit!" - she continued on. People loved it. Miho was very cute.

They finished their show with my favorite Cibo song "Birthday Cake". All three of the shows that night - the Arsonists, Sean lennon and Cibo Matto - were all great. The audience enjoyed it so much and I bet the bands had a lot of fun playing their songs.

In closing, it is my opinion that Cibo Matto's new album "Stereotype A" is a much more mature and deeper album than "Viva! La Woman." I also really look forward to hearing Sean's new music! Thank you for your great music, Sean!
