There was some confusion in the press and among fans about who had been invited to perform at the John Lennon tribute concert, "Come Together: A Night For John Lennon's Words and Music, Dedicated to New York City and Its People."  Some people thought that Paul, George, Ringo and Julian had not been invited.  Yoko cleared up the matter with the following statement in October, 2001:

The first invitations sent out from me were to Paul, George, Ringo and
Julian, asking them to join us in this concert. Subsequently, Ken Ehrlich Productions have sent letters of request to them as well.

Ringo sent a sweet letter to me explaining how it conflicted with the schedule of his concert tour. Julian actually called us right away and told us that he would come. I was delighted. But in the end, Julian sent his apology to us that he could not perform because of a medical reason.

Sean, when asked what he wanted to do, had mentioned, initially, that he did not want to be perceived as using The Beatles or his Dad's name to promote his own music career. So I didn't push. In the end, Sean decided to help me by joining the concert. It was nice that Sean joined us. After all, it's his Dad.

Anybody reading this should not be upset towards Paul & George, either. Paul is doing his own show in two weeks for New York City with a great list of artists. George, already had enough to deal with this year, I'm sure.

I decided to write this note so that John's fans would not worry needlessly.  In view of the healing each of us has to go through, especially in New York City, let's create some trust for each other by giving light and clarity now badly needed. Let's not allow bluemeanies to divide and conquer us through confusion. Remember our hearts are one.
