Kristine Stiles

Brief Bio from Walker Art's "An Afternoon With Yoko" Program.

Ms. Stiles is an artist and Associate Professor of Art and Art History at Duke University.  She is internationally recognized for her work on performance and experimental art, as well as her studies of destruction, violence and trauma in art.

She co-edited, with Peter Selz, Theories and Documents of Contemporary Art (University of California Press, 1996) and has several books forthcoming, including Uncorrupted Joy: Art Actions, Art History and Social Value.

Stiles is the recipient of numerous grants and awards, including the John Simon Guggenheim Fellowship, a National Endowment for the Humanities Summer Travel Grant, the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship, and the Richard K. Lublin Distinguished Award for Teaching Excellence at Duke University.
